Hi Govind,
BOE is continuously writing and reading files in your FR and lot of open files and temp files will be created in the File Store.
There are two backups are methodologies are there.
Cold Backup: Needs be taken when SAP BI BusObjects server offline. All the BO services (SIA) and WebApplication server ( Tomcat/Web logic/WACS…) needs to be stopped to perform this activity.
Hot Backup:
With a hot backup, the system stays live and available to users during the backup process. It
has the advantage of no downtime for your system.
Enabling Hot backup function is introduced in BI 4.0 SP4. This will allow taking Backup of your BI platform data while the system is still active.
This Hot backup function will not perform any backup process. It will allow taking the backup when BO system is running.
You need to use the DB Vendor tool to backup and restore your CMS DB/Audit DB.File backup tools or Network Backup needs to take of your File Store and Web Tier Componenets & Derby Databases.
But there are some issues also there with the Enabling the Hot backup functionality In BO:
1) More repository space is needed on your repository servers.
2) Report Modifications are not reflected in scheduled jobs
3) When we execute the Repo Scan few files will be deleted.
4) Deleted Files are the still there in File store
Please refer the admin Guide.Chapter 13.4.1 Backing up the entire system
Kindly go through the below Wiki Page of Hot Backup.
