Re: DB2 - Default Extent Size - Impact on table size and performance

Hi Gopal

 

It is recommended to keep the default extent size as 2 when SAP application is running on DB2.

 

Basically this can be changed when you create new table space and mention explicitly a different default extent size ( using the EXTENTSIZE option ) .

 

However in the case of running of SAP , the tablespaces are created in the installation phase only and hence they are created with the default extent size. 

 

I think the option is present during the SAPINST installation phase to manually create the table spaces.

Also the extent size is defined at a table space level .
